The Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre Society (VLACC) is a non-profit organization with a mission to contribute to the education and cultural legacy of all Canadians by exploring and sharing a deeper understanding of Latin American arts and cultures. JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Executive Assistant, Operations & Marketing, works under the direction of the Executive Director and working closely with the Operations Coordinator, will support the operational, planning, and administrative and supervisory functions of VLACC events including logistics, upkeep of tracking documents, contact with performers and facilitators, supporting marketing and communications actions and reports. This is a student position, the applicant should provide proof of the student’s status.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Oversees the development, implementation and execution of registrations and ticket sales, and provides attendance and registration reports
•Updates events on social media and VLACC’s website; creates and uploads registration forms
•Assists in preparing agreements and waivers.
•Responsible for on-site event compliance with Event policies procedures and service standards, adhering to WorkSafe BC, BC Liquor Control and Licensing Act, City of Vancouver legislation and/or other governmental offices.
•With the support of the Volunteer Coordinator schedules and supervises the training of volunteers ensuring venue staff provide quality service to patrons.
•Other related duties projects or tasks required by the Operations Coordinator and the Executive Director.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Requirements:


•High school degree.

•Experience in working or volunteering in arts and culture events.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge Requirements:

•Ability to plan, and supervise part-time event staff and volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
•Superior customer service and communication skills
•Highly organized team player with highly developed interpersonal skills; thrives on multi-tasking.
•Must be able to work a flexible workweek including evenings and weekends
•Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
•Proficiency using Google Drive, Excel, Dropbox. Knowledge of Asana or other project management software is desirable.

Desirable Licenses, Certificates and Registrations:

•Serving It Right Certification
•Food Safe Certification
•First Aid- Level 1

This is a student position. The applicant will need to provide Proof of Student’s active status.

Assets and Preferences:

•A knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable.

•An interest in Latin American arts and cultures.

HOURS, WAGES

This is a temporary part-time position, suitable for a co-op student.

September 15th, 2021 to March 15th, 2022

25 hours per week

$19.50 per hour
