Placement Type: Work Experience Opportunities Grant (WEOG) – Low Intensity (200 hours)
Host Organization: Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre (VLACC)
Hybrid: remote work and in-person at VLACC’s office (1885 Venables Street, Vancouver) and event venues
Period: Approx. early September to mid-November 2025
Stipend: $3,000 (paid through the WEOG program)

About VLACC

The Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre (VLACC) is a registered charitable non-profit dedicated to sharing Latin American arts and cultures with the broader community. Through concerts, exhibitions, literary events, language classes, and community programs, we create opportunities for learning, connection, and cross-cultural dialogue.

About the Position:

VLACC is seeking a Latin Expressions Assistant to support the preparation and delivery of our flagship Latin Expressions Festival in October 2025. This short-term, paid work experience is designed for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in arts administration, event coordination, and community programming.

The role offers training, mentorship, and the chance to work with a small, collaborative team in a welcoming environment. Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

● Assist with planning and coordination of Latin Expressions Festival events.
● Support marketing efforts, including social media content preparation and community
outreach.
● Help with artist and partner communications.
● Assist with event logistics and setup at in-person festival events.
● Participate in post-event activities such as documentation, evaluation, and reporting.
● Attend team meetings and internal training sessions.

Work Format:
Hybrid: approx. 10 hours/week remote, 10 hours/week in-person (office or event venues).

Eligibility: This placement is funded through UWBC‘s Work Experience Opportunities Grant (WEOG). To be eligible, applicants must:
● Be receiving or eligible to receive BC Employment and Assistance (BCEA), Disability Assistance, or equivalent Indigenous federal assistance.
● Be legally able to work in BC.
● Not be a current WorkBC Wage Subsidy recipient or an existing employee in this role.

VLACC will verify eligibility as per WEOG guidelines.
