Visual Storytelling in Photography with Felipe Fittipaldi

In this 4-part workshop, we’ll examine the art of storytelling and narrative through photographic images, to better understand the place and culture we live in. Rethink the way you see the world by approaching your community and your life through photography. Class discussions will include ideas, research, planning, technical aspects, editing, ethics, and other relevant issues, to help you find your own perspective to tell a story. Please note: this workshop is not a technical, lighting, or studio workshop. There will be no instruction on the use of cameras or their features, or in the basic use of your chosen editing program. The use of your phone camera for this project is acceptable and encouraged.

$35 fee for this 4-class workshop

Felipe Fittipaldi is a Brazilian photographer and video-maker currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia. With a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and post-graduated in Communications and Image by several Brazilian institutions, he frequently contributes his work to newspapers, magazines, and corporations, including The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, United Nations, The Nature Conservancy, The Guardian, El País, among others. Felipe has been awarded in the Lens Culture Emerging Talents, POY Latam, The Prix de la Photographie, National Geographic Photo Contest, Magnum Caravan Scholarship, Life Framer Award, Addis Foto Fest, Wellcome Prize, and Le Rencontres D’arles. In 2018, he was selected by the World Press Photo Foundation for the 6×6 Global Talent Program. The following year, he became a National Geographic Explorer Grantee, and his work became part of The National Library of France (BnF) Collection.
