We respectfully acknowledge that VLACC operates on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We recognize that these Indigenous peoples have stewarded this land, rich in history and culture, for countless generations.
As an organization dedicated to Latin American arts and culture, we are deeply aware of the shared histories of colonization and resilience experienced by Indigenous peoples in Canada and Latin America. Across our respective lands, colonization has affected languages, traditions, and communities. We honour Indigenous cultures’ strength, wisdom, and perseverance and stand in solidarity with their ongoing efforts for justice, reclamation, and healing.
VLACC is committed to fostering understanding and respect through our work. We strive to create spaces where diverse cultural voices can share, connect, and grow. In our efforts, we pledge to listen, learn, and actively support the reconciliation process as we honour the land and its original caretakers.
