We’ll start with a short lecture to explain the Ida y Vuelta song forms and their history. Then, we will introduce in an easy-to-follow class a few of the various elements of flamenco movement and will learn some basic steps and concepts such as hand and arm movement, hand clapping, marking steps and footwork to dance one of our Ida y Vuelta songs.
The final portion of the workshop will be a guided movement exploration using those flamenco elements as a base from which to explore the theme of how migration influences our lives.
No prior dance experience is required.
We will be dancing without shoes or with clean, non-marking shoes to protect the studio’s dance floor.
