What if poetry could move you—literally? What if words could transform the way you see yourself and the world around you?
“¿Para qué sirve la poesía?”
“What is poetry for?” — Rosario Castellanos
On the same week as Rosario Castellanos’ Centennial Celebration event on May 15, VLACC invites you to Preguntas a Rosario, an interdisciplinary, bilingual embodiment workshop guided by Carla Alcántara, Marco Esccer, and the Ome Dance Collective. We’ll step into Castellanos’ world, exploring her most powerful questions through movement, dialogue, and creative exploration.

📖 “La vocación de la escritura es una responsabilidad doble, ineludible. El escritor no lo es si no pone en entredicho lo que ha heredado.”
🖋️ “The vocation of writing is a double, inescapable responsibility. A writer is not one unless they question what they have inherited.” — Rosario Castellanos
What Awaits You:
🔹 Powerful Themes: Dive into Castellanos’ reflections on feminism, equity, death, empowerment, and Indigenous heritage—timeless and deeply relevant topics.
🔹 A Space for Connection: Engage in an inclusive, intercultural environment that welcomes diverse perspectives and artistic expression.
🔹Inspiring Transformation: Use poetry and movement to challenge the status quo and cultivate personal and collective resilience.
🔹 Inclusivity & Accessibility: Open to everyone—artists, community leaders, and those new to poetry and movement—this workshop creates a shared space for creativity and dialogue.
🔹Fostering Resilience: Castellanos’ work becomes a catalyst for reimagining our roles as changemakers, building bridges through art to stronger, more compassionate communities.
🌍 “Al cuestionar el lugar que ocupamos en el mundo, abrimos una posibilidad para cambiar la realidad.”
💡 “By questioning the place we occupy in the world, we open the possibility to change reality.” — Rosario Castellanos
Words have power, movement has meaning, and community can transform us. This is more than a workshop—it’s a chance to honour Rosario Castellanos’ vision and explore how her legacy can inspire justice, resilience, and change in our lives today.
✊ “Recordemos hasta que la justicia se siente entre nosotros.”
❤️ “Let us remember until justice takes a seat among us.” — Rosario Castellanos
Come ready to move, question, and connect—because Castellanos’ words are not just meant to be read. They are meant to be felt. Be part of this living dialogue!
