Re:Location Season 2 Online Premiere | Episode 5: Pedro Chamale

March 12 @ 6:00 pm - 6:10 pm

Re:Location Season 2 profiles five talented Latin American artists as they navigate the complexities of building their careers while staying connected to their cultural roots. Each short documentary provides an intimate glimpse into their challenges and triumphs, revealing how their experiences in Canada have shaped their artistic identities.

A new documentary will be released monthly on our YouTube channel, featuring mid-career Latin American artists sharing their journeys, challenges, and resilience.

This season’s fifth and last episode highlights playwright Pedro Chamale, born and raised in Chetwynd, British Columbia, to an immigrant family from Guatemala. Pedro is the co-founder and director of Rice & Beans Theatre, which was established in Vancouver in 2010 to create opportunities for marginalized artists and theatre makers. Overcoming cultural barriers in the theatre industry, Pedro has carved out a space for himself and others through his work and advocacy.

This 10-minute documentary follows Pedro’s journey, exploring how his family influenced his professional path and how he embraces his Latin American identity to celebrate the richness of diversity.
