Alan Creighton Kelly is a retired teacher/counselor of adults and a mediator/negotiator from the faculty of Capilano University in 2009. The skills that he believes in and aspires to are patience, working transparently with stakeholders, listening to all with neither judgment nor prejudice, bridge-building, negotiating and developing consensus. He has held dozens of board & council positions over his lifetime. These span educational associations, sporting clubs, residential & business strata councils, unions, co-op business/housing organizations. He has held positions from board member through to president. His mother’s wish was that he grew up understanding his world more broadly. In 1966 she introduced him to Latin America. But it wasn’t until he began to explore on his own in 1970, that he became interested and engaged in Latino culture. Today, immersed & committed to the community, he is excited to contribute to the VLACC project. He is a founding member of the organization
