In partnership with Curated Tastes, VLACC has made a selection of Latin American artists and spaces that represent them in Canada. These artists and spaces are opening their doors to us. We’d like to take you in and share the intimate experience that it is to visit an artist studio, the private spaces of a gallery or to have a guided visit to a .current exhibition
* This presentation is part of a series of events honouring Black History Month

Yaimel López’s Artist Statement
My current work doesn’t talk about the future but talks about the past and the importance of not forgetting good and bad moments, which indeed, are what make Us who We are.
I’m an artist who builds my work by drawing memories, not just mine but other people’s memories. Those memories are generally caught in photos that I use as a referent to tell my version of those stories. When I draw I arrange the new composition by bringing together multiple photos as one, sometimes I either add or remove elements to build a stronger composition.
