About Alex Cuba
Born in Artemisa, Cuba, Alex grew up immersed in the traditions and performance of the island’s music. In 2006 he released his debut album Humo De Tabaco earning him a Juno award for World Music Album of the Year — his first award of many more recognitions to come. Throughout the course of his career, Alex’s music has reached international attention and won several awards including four Latin Grammys. His most recent album, Mendó, recorded and released during the pandemic, features collaborations with many living legends of Latin music including Lila Downs and Antonio Carmona. Alex’s path-breaking compositions capture a great depth of emotional colours. He is truly an original artist with universal appeal.
